Civil liability

We defend individuals and companies that have suffered harm (injuries, material losses) through someone else's fault, seeking fair compensation through out-of-court or court claims: we gather evidence, advise on the applicable rules (contractual or non-contractual liability), negotiate with insurers and represent the client in litigation.

Civil liability is the obligation to repair the harm caused to another person (Article 2341 of the Civil Code). Besides traffic accidents, medical errors, workplace accidents and harm caused by the State, which we handle in their own practice areas, we take on cases like these:

• Animal attacks and bites: the owner, or whoever had the animal in their care, is liable (Articles 2353 and 2354 of the Civil Code).
• Defective products: an appliance that explodes, contaminated food or a cosmetic that causes injuries. The producer and the supplier are liable (Law 1480 of 2011).
• Damage to your home or your belongings: from neighboring construction work, leaks, fires or the collapse of a building (Article 2350 of the Civil Code).
• Objects that fall or are thrown from a building (Article 2355 of the Civil Code).
